I just thought I'd join the discussion about the official New Moon poster that was released this week. I've read on some fan sites that the general concensus is that it doesn't encapsulate New Moon properly. I have to disagree there. New Moon is ultimately the story of Bella and JACOB, and then the reunification of Bella and Edward. In the poster we are presented with Bella holding onto Jacob, while Edward is standing in the front, away from Bella. This is demonstrating how Jacob comes between them during the bulk of New Moon, and secures a place in Bella's heart that Edward can never get back. He is very important to the story line, and holds a central position in the poster.
Edward and Jacob have their backs facing towards each other in a very dismissive pose. They are enemies from the beginning, and can only be that near to each other because of Bella, but during the second film it will be mainly Jacob's job to look after her. As much as most people are fans of Edward, they have to understand that the poster is merely demonstrating what is ultimately going to occur, the bringing together of Bella and Jacob, and the separation of Bella and Edward.
That's my two-cents worth ;)
